Islands of the Caribbean & Bermuda

Although technically in the Atlantic the Turks & Caicos Islands are very close neighbours to their Caribbean counterparts. Home to unspoiled beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see, this tantalising archipelago is a rare treat. Nestled in the great ocean by a 14-mile barrier reef, and adjacent to the warm waters of the Caribbean, these low-lying jewels epitomise paradise. Only 12 of the 40 low lying coral islands are inhabited, which makes Turks and Caicos ideal for a little desert island exploration. The two main islands of this archipelago are the Turks island known as Grand Turk and the Caicos counterpart called Providenciales. Grand Turk Here you will find the colourful capital, Cockburn Town, and the Turks and Caicos National Museum, a wonderful institution that explores the culture and history of the islands. Of course, you'll also find plenty of pristine beaches to choose from. Providenciales In Providenciales, walk the legendary soft sands of the world-renowned Grace Bay Beach and discover secluded bays, like the ever-stretching Long Bay Beach and the gems of Turtle Cove. Shop at boutique stores, purchase local crafts, and duck into the wonderful art gallery at Salt Mills Plaza. Above the waves you can enjoy sailing, or windsurfing, and below them snorkelling or diving. The waters here are home to a diversity of marine life, and exploring the underwater world of Turks and Caicos is incredibly rewarding. The recipient of numerous accolades and awards, the 3.5 mile stretch of Grace Bay Beach is breathtaking, with clean turquoise water and soft white sand, and no rocks, seaweed, or pollution. An extensive barrier reef is located about a mile (1.6 km) offshore, protects Grace Bay from the ocean swells of the Atlantic, which helps to keep the water at the beach calm and safe.
